Types of Roof Shingles To Choose

There are many ways you can actually improve your home to make it last longer, but I found that most people never really pay as much attention to the roof part of the house, because it is not as visible as the rest of the house when it comes to home improvement. It is true that on average roof shingles last around 30 – 50 years before they have to be replaced, but that always depends on the average weather conditions and how well they were placed the first time.
I want to go into the 3 most common types of roof shingles you can buy and choose from depending on what your budget is. That is in fact the first thing you should settle, is how much are you willing to spend on your roof shingles and protection. Once that is figured out you can move on to actually selecting the type. The first and most common type is of course the asphalt roof shingles, they are so common because they are not expensive at all compared to other types and they hold an average score in every aspect of shingles. The next common type is metal roof shingles, although before they were quite uncommon, they are not starting to hit off with being placed on more and more roofs everyday because they are a lot more durable and can withstand almost any type of weather condition. Next we have the slate roof shingles, these are the most expensive but are the most durable. You usually see these roof shingles on very big houses. These last anywhere from 8 decades to 10 decades before having to be replaced, and are even more durable then metal.
The final phase you want to check out is your contractor that you will be paying to do the job. There are many companies that are around every city or town that can do the job, so compare prices between all of them, and try to negotiate a deal before you settle for just any price.
I work on improving the home and making it more durable, I research ways you can do that for a low price.
